Derick was born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL. As a child, he loved to sing, dance, and play music. He is known for his ability to mix songs together to create tunes that are unique in their own right. He has been a DJ for over 20 years. He is invited to perform all over the country at various events, and he collaborates with other mix masters. He is the original Stepping DJ for Central Florida. He is the Founder and CEO of The Heart of Florida Steppers, Inc. For Derick, Chicago-Style Stepping has been transformative and healing. He and his lovely wife, Vivian reside in Winter Haven, Florida. The Heart of Florida Steppers was founded as a way to impact the community with the same transformative and healing power he experienced.

The Lewises have been happily married for 10 years. They are the proud parents of four adult children and grandparents to two. They are lifelong residents of Lakeland, FL - apart from their time serving in the military. Their journey with Chicago-Style Stepping began in 2010 and they have been passionate about the dance ever since. The dance not only captured their hearts but also deepened their bond and expanded their connection to the community. The Lewises are well-known in the community and appreciated for their hospitality as they open their home to new and seasoned Steppers needing a place to practice their skills. For the Lewises, Steppin’ is more than a dance - it’s a source of joy, unity, and love.

Born in Detroit, MI to a family of dancers, Tish has been roller skating and performing since the age of 5. She spent her leisure time learning and exposing herself to dances such as Detroit Ballroom, Greystone, Chop, etc. In 2005, she began visiting Chicago clubs where the locals would Step and became interested in this style of dance. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to Central Florida and became a top stepper in the state. She continually enhances her dance by training with award-winning steppers and mentors. She has received many awards for her dedication to the craft including winning 1st place in 2018 in the World’s Largest Stepper’s Contest in the Original Old School Category. Tish continues to conduct workshops and minister to the lives of others through this dance.

The Williamses were both born and raised in St.Petersburg, FL and met in high school. They fell in love and married shortly thereafter. They have six amazing children and 3 precious grandchildren. Although neither of them grew up dancing, they share a common love and appreciation for music. They were introduced to Stepping in 2017 and timidly walked into their first class. Eventually, they both fell in love with this dance. The couple serves as true testaments to the benefits of consistent class attendance and practicing. They won 2nd place in the 2025 Steppintine Couple’s Choice Awards. If you put in the time and effort, Heart of Florida Steppers will take your skills to the next level.

Tracey was born and raised in Lakeland, FL. She has a twin sister, two beautiful children, and 9 grands. She has always loved dancing to old school music. She began her Stepping journey in 2009 with Central Florida Steppers. Tracey’s mother, prior to passing, attended weekly classes with her. Her mother would inquire daily, “Baby, did you practice your dance?” This inspired Tracey to learn all she could and ask questions about the reason for each instruction. After 5 years, Tracey furthered her knowledge by learning to lead as there were not enough men to lead the ladies. This prompted her to start teaching beginners. She passionately wants learners of Stepping to do this dance correctly. She is known for her attention to detail and direct style of teaching.
